Hey everyone! Wow, it´s been a crazy ..2 to 3 weeks here! I´ve had no time to sit down and write which is extremely frustrating!! Chiclayo was incredible and sunny(!!!), spending it with wagner´s family and friends..and we´ve ended up creating really strong bonds with people we never expected. The 12 hour bus ride wasn´t too bad as it was pure luxury with reclining seats and lots of space to spread out..plus it was overnight meaning we just slept after some hectic partying .. we didn´t get to bed until about 6.30 in the morning after the quinceañera! We came back to Zapallal for the week before the national holiday begun and the kids went back to their homes for the week, where I celebrated my birthday with a huge homemade birthday cake made by lucy the housemum. Two new girls, Sarah and Charlotte came to join us in the volunteering and it was nice to have a group of us finally! We spent our morning in las laderas, helping to paint ... and practically finished two floors worth including the 1000 rooms they had and then during the afternoons we´d pop into puente piedra, the little town near us before heading back to spend time with the kids. The last day was really emotional, as we also celebrated lucy´s birthday that day. It was really sad to say goodbye to the kids and there was a lot of crying involved! That was our last official day at the refuge! The last week we spent in Lima, back with Maria Silva....filled with a lot of ups and downs as always! Wagner and Beto took us out to a peruvian nightclub and to various other hotspots! And on the Friday 25th they surprised me by singing with their guitars as a birthday treat which was really special.. and we also ate pizza for the first time in 4 weeks! The wednesday was Charlotte´s birthday and so Maria organised a mini party for her in the school next door and Vilmer got a band together for some live music which was incredible! We returned to the refuge last friday for one more night to gather up our things for cuzco and said another goodbye to all...and now i´m sitting here typing this from a cabinita de internet in cuzco..suffering from a sore throat and dizzyness which is apparently the first sign of altitude sickness..aarh! I´m trying to change my inca trail date to the same as becky´s so we can be together but we´ll see how it goes. At the moment, i´m feeling incredibly nervous and scared about it all, especially feeling like the way I do..but only time will tell hey! Cuzco is completely different to what we know of Lima and Zapallal. It´s modern and touristy..quite a pretty place.. Just hardly has any atmosphere due to the tourism sucking it out! We´re going of to get breakfast...although it´s about 2.30(!) and to explore in a bit..taking it slowly! Will let you know how it goes! Hope you´re all well!
Lots of Love,
Nikixxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
